Who We Are

I started Altius Tax & Accounting with one purpose: Helping professional runners and the running community get the tax and wealth help they need. Our mission is simple, serve a community that is largely under served in the tax and wealth space.

We provide expert tax and financial advice because we know the running community. We know the ups and downs of training, traveling, and racing. Unlike other tax and accounting firms, we don’t do cookie cutter tax preparation. We look at you and your unique circumstances in order to provide you the best advice and the most value, saving you time and money.

    Erik Oswald, CPA, MBA

    Meet our founder, a former collegiate runner and passionate ultra marathoner with a deep love for the running community. Having spent over half of his life chasing finishes on the track and trails, he understands the unique challenges faced by professional athletes. After competing at the collegiate level and striving for an Olympic Trials Qualifier in Steeplechase, he transitioned into the world of finance and accounting, where he earned his degree, an MBA, and became a CPA. He spent three years at a tax firm in Phoenix, honing his skills, but he knew his ultimate goal was to serve the running community that meant so much to him.

    Many runners experience frustration stemming from messy books, unexpected tax bills, and financial stress that pulls them away from the sport they love. Feeling this weight firsthand, our founder realized that professional athletes shouldn’t struggle with taxes, especially when their primary focus should be training and racing.

    In 2025, Altius Tax & Accounting LLC was born—a boutique firm dedicated to providing tax compliance, tax advisory, and bookkeeping specifically tailored for professional runners. With a personal experience of the burdens faced by his peers, he created a solution that blends his passion for running with his financial expertise.
